Festival announces more acts and top chef Martin Bosley

8 July 2011

This year’s Gisborne Wine & Food Festival promises to deliver for music-lovers of all ages and tastes, as well as fans of top Kiwi chef Martin Bosley. Gisborne Wine Marketing Manager Simon Gardiner today announced the rest of the Festival line-up, and plenty of treats are in store.

Supporting Fat Freddy’s Drop will be the much buzzed about Auckland band Tahuna Breaks. Renowned for their live act as well as their chart-topping album Black Brown & White, Tahuna Breaks combine influences from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Other entertainment includes the smooth summer sounds of the Vicki Horsfall Jazz Trio, the fabulously entertaining Ma Shot Pa covers band, and local musos Mo2s. The event will begin with a Kapa Haka performance by Waihirere.

Gisborne success story Clarke Gayford, who counts TV presenting, radio hosting and DJing amongst his many achievements, will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Last year’s celebrity chef master-classes were such a hit, they’re holding them again this year with the one and only Martin Bosley. His Wellington restaurant, Martin Bosley’s Yacht Club, has won just about every award going. For the last four years he’s consistently featured in Cuisine Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year Awards, claiming the Supreme Winner crown in 2007. Fish is one of his specialties, and he’ll be conducting two exclusive seafood workshops at the Festival for an additional ticket price of $65 per person.

There’ll also be the biggest range of food exhibitors ever seen at the Gisborne Wine & Food Festival, plus all the top local wineries: Ashwood Estate, Brunton Road Wines, Bushmere Estate, Cognoscenti, Hihi Wines, Huntaway, Kirkpatrick Estate Winery, Lindauer, Longbush Wines, Matawhero Wines, Millton Vineyards & Winery, Poverty Bay Wines, Spade Oak Vineyard, Stone Bridge, TW Wines, Te Hana, Vinoptima Estate, Wrights Vineyard & Winery.

The rugby will be shown live on a large outdoor screen so those attending the Festival won’t miss the big game.

Gisborne Wine & Food Festival General Admission and Workshop Tickets go on sale at 9.00am from Ticketek and the Gisborne Wine Centre, Wharf Shed 3.
