The best wine, food and entertainment experience limited to 5,000 people
15 June 2011
More details of this year's Gisborne Wine & Food Festival have just been released, with the big news that people will have to get in quickly to avoid disappointment. Ticket numbers will be strictly limited to 5,000 again this year, despite selling out last year in record time.
Last year the demand was phenomenal, says Gisborne Wine Marketing Manager Simon Gardiner. We received over 1,200 emails asking for tickets after we sold out weeks before the event, and apparently tickets were going for up to $200 on TradeMe.
Waiohika Estate was chosen for its special setting, and the natural amphitheatres that will maximise the excitement and the experience.
“By holding the Festival at Waiohika, we can provide lots of shade, free water dispensing stands and chill out areas during the wine and food part of the day, explains Mr Gardiner.
That will all happen in the one amphitheatre. Following this, the rugby will be shown live on a 40 sqm screen in the “Vines” amphitheatre so those attending the Festival won’t miss the big game”.
Rumours have been swirling as to who the headline act may be. Mr Gardiner will announce the headliners in a few days, along with the date tickets are going on sale. I can't say much just yet, he says, except that we've scored a real coup in securing this particular band. They're New Zealand legends, and will mean that tickets are in even hotter demand.
